MAPS Newsletter – Issue #4

mapsNL4

The fourth issue of the MAPS Newsletter presents the research lines developed by the project’s 40 early-career researchers across ten Sub-Saharan African countries. Their projects address interconnected issues including migration governance, climate mobility, health, gender, urban inclusion, and the protection and reintegration of displaced people and returning migrants.

The newsletter also briefly reports on the second MAPS Summer School, held in Dar es Salaam in February 2026, focusing on research methods and strategies.

Further updates include the validation of the researchers’ individual research lines by the European Commission and the launch of national ethics approval procedures. The newsletter also introduces forthcoming training activities: the third MAPS Summer School in Uganda, focusing on migration in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals, and online learning modules being developed by the University of Barcelona.
